The youth squirrel hunt is not just about the thrill of the chase; it’s also designed to educate younger hunters on essential hunting techniques and core hunting ethics. Only 12 lucky youth hunters will be chosen to participate, so make sure to get your applications in before the deadline! Interested candidates must submit their applications by 3:00 PM on January 20, 2025. Remember, this event is more than just fun and games; it’s an educational experience.
To apply, youth must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 21 years old. And adults, it’s a good idea to have a basic understanding of the state and federal small game hunting regulations too! These guidelines ensure everyone has a safe and fair hunting experience.
Don’t worry about needing lots of gear! Selected youth hunters only need to bring proper clothing suitable for the weather. The USACE has got you covered when it comes to hunting supplies. They will provide all necessary equipment, including hunting dogs, weapons, and ammunition. Plus, an experienced hunting guide will be there to assist throughout the hunt. How great is that?
Just a quick heads up, this is a Shotgun ONLY event, so keep that in mind while applying. Additionally, all participants must follow state and federal regulations for small game hunting.
