Spring Lecture Series to Feature ‘The Family Plot’ Host

Dr. Christopher Cooper, the renowned host of “The Family Plot: Gardening in the Mid-South” on PBS, is slated to be the keynote speaker in March. The lively lecture sessions, organised by the Lafayette County Master Gardeners, are to be held at the Lafayette County and Oxford Public Library. Free and open to all, the series will commence on March 7, followed by subsequent sessions on April 4 and May 2.

About the Speaker

Dr. Christopher Cooper, in addition to his televised fame, serves as the county director and master gardener coordinator with the UT-TSU Shelby County Extension Service. Born in Jackson, Cooper carries an impressive academic background with a bachelor of science degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge. He further honed his knowledge in plant physiology, acquiring a master of science and Ph.D. from Alabama A&M University. Cooper is an active contributor to the Shelby County, where he provides educational programs tackling urban and home horticulture issues.
