Oxford Set to Host Annual Pie Fest 2024 for Local Bakers and Food Enthusiasts this June

Pie Fest 2024 Arrives in Oxford this June

Annual Fundraiser Event_

Oxford– The Oxford Community Market (OXCM) will be hosting its annual Pie Fest 2024 on June 25 at the Old Armory Pavilion. The event is from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and offers local bakers in Oxford and Lafayette county a chance to show off their baking skills. This cherished annual event is not just about pie but is a significant fundraising event for OXCM.

The Contest_

Participation in the festival involves bakers baking two pies of their preferred variety. One will be for judges to sample, while the other will serve for audience voting for the Audience Favorite Award. Bakers of top-ranked pies in four different categories will receive prizes. This exciting event is not only for bakers; everyone in the Oxford community is welcome to the event. Non-baking participants can sample submitted pies, vote for their favorite pies, and contribute to a good cause by making a small donation of $5.

Community and Values_

The event is a showcase of OXCM’s commitments to Oxford’s communities and their values. The organization, a nonprofit local food organization, runs a weekly year-round producer-only farmers’ market. They support building a strong local food system and are active in addressing food insecurity in the LOU community.

Pie Fest’s Contribution_

The proceeds from Pie Fest 2024 will go towards the market operations at OXCM and will help the organization to make fresh, local food accessible to all Oxford and Lafayette County residents. The Pie Fest is not simply a cooking competition; it is an event that brings the community together in the pursuit of a more sustainable and accessible local food system.

Past and Future_

In previous years, the OXCM’s Pie Fest has been a heartwarming community favorite, with dozens of pies and a friendly competitive spirit. The event is accessible for all age groups and is a welcome affair for families. Participants are inspired to bring along their family or friends and enjoy the event as if it’s a picnic on the lawn. It offers live music, delicious homemade pies, and is a true embodiment of the Southern spirit.
