Notable cases include the identification of individuals responsible for slashing tires and vandalizing a fountain, leading to extensive damages. In the charming city of Oxford, it appears that some people just can’t resist the urge to cause a little chaos! Recently, local authorities made significant strides in tackling bizarre and damaging behaviors. Here’s the latest on the recent arrests involving felony malicious mischief that left some vehicles badly hurt in the city.
Last week, the Oxford Police Department responded to a disturbing incident in a business parking lot on Jackson Avenue. A vehicle sustained extensive damage, prompting the police to launch an investigation. Thanks to some handy surveillance footage, investigators were able to identify the suspect as 29-year-old Kristen Bolen from Lafayette County.
Bolen was taken into custody on December 18th and brought before a Municipal Court judge for her initial hearing. The damage to the vehicle was shocking, falling into the realm of a felony charge. With the evidence in hand, it seems that the police are taking a strong stance against property violence in the area.
The suspects, 22-year-old Lisa Phillips and 20-year-old Ashton Arterberry, both from Dallas, Texas, faced serious outcomes as the damage they caused also exceeded the alarming amount of one thousand dollars. After their initial court appearances, they were charged with felony malicious mischief and now have bonds of $4,000 hanging over their heads.
Those responsible for this fountain fiasco were identified as 19-year-old Abigail Fuqua from Virginia Beach, Virginia, and 18-year-old Madison Brown from Davidson, North Carolina. These young ladies were also caught on surveillance footage, clearly showing their reckless disregard for property as they vandalized the fountain and even disconnected its electric pump!
Once caught, Fuqua and Brown found themselves slapped with felony malicious mischief charges as well, each receiving a bond of $5,000 after their initial court hearings.
As the police continue to crack down on these mischievous acts, one can only hope that this trend does not continue. It’s essential for everyone in the community to take a stand and help keep Oxford a peaceful place.
