Thanks to the efforts of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department, Walker was apprehended. He now faces charges of aggravated assault and is awaiting a bond hearing. This troubling incident only adds to the growing unease in a community still recovering from a tragedy at Oxford High School in November 2021.

Adding to the community’s sorrow, Christmas Eve brought a heartbreaking incident that took the life of 71-year-old Dr. Barbara Wolf, a clinical psychologist known for her dedication to mental health. While trying to assist a stranded motorist, Dr. Wolf was fatally shot, and her daughter, who was with her, was also struck but is expected to recover.

The harrowing sequence of events began when a man driving erratically crashed into a pole, prompting two women, including Dr. Wolf, to stop and offer help. Instead of gratitude, they were confronted with a gun when the driver pointed a handgun before speeding away. Tragically, Dr. Wolf and her daughter, upon stopping to assist, were met with gunfire while attempting to escape.

Serious Charges Facing the Suspect

The gunman has been identified as Malik Webb, a 29-year-old ex-convict with a disturbing history of gun violence. With previous firearm offenses under his belt, Webb was released early from a 7.5-year sentence just last November after only serving 5.5 years.
