Eat in Oxford: A Delightful Wednesday of Food, Drinks, and Entertainment

Oxford, Mississippi was alive with a cornucopia of food, drinks, and entertainment options on Wednesday, June 26, 2023. A myriad of restaurants and eateries opened their doors to locals and visitors alike, providing a vibrant gastronomic scene and live entertainment to boost the mid-week mood in one of America’s great small towns.

Food Heaven

The renowned Ajax Diner on Courthouse Square served hungry customers from 11 am, with lunch, and dinner options. Similarly, City Grocery, a well-loved downtown staple, opened for lunch and served meals till 10 am. For an early morning start, Big Bad Breakfast on North Lamar Blvd offered a 10% off Early Bird Special from 7 am–9 am. For lovers of Greek cuisine, Opa also on South Lamar Blvd had half-price house wines and martinis up for grabs as they served throughout the day till 10 pm, and the bar stays open late.

For tasty offerings in a cozy setting, Bouré on North Lamar Blvd and Tallahatchie Gourmet on Van Buren Ave had their kitchens running from 11 am. Not to miss out on the festivities, Ollie’s Do-nuts started serving delicious donuts from the early hour of 5:30 am until 1 pm – perfect for those on the go or those in search of a sweet, indulgent breakfast option.

Drink Mavens

The town was well supplied with locals and tourist-favourite bars as they opened their doors for drink enthusiasts. The Library on South 11th St started pouring drinks from 3 pm and going till late. Their Happy Hour, running from 3 pm – 7 pm, offered $1 off all drinks. Meanwhile, Rooster’s on Courthouse square served beverages such as $3 vodka & whiskey and $5 domestics from 5 pm – 1 am.

For a different kind of drinking experience, the Volta Taverna on North Lamar Blvd had a Happy Hour running from 4 pm – 7 pm with $1 off all drinks. Mid-Town Farmer’s Market also invited all wine aficionados for a splendid evening of wine tasting from 5 pm – 7 pm.

Entertainment Highlights

As if the food and drinks offerings were not enough, entertainment was in abundance throughout Oxford. Fans of laughter had a fun night at Moe’s on South Lamar Blvd. Here, a Comedy Mic Night was held starting from 9 pm. Trivia at Circle & Square Brewing started at 7 pm, testing the intellect of everyone present.

In conclusion, this Wednesday was a delightful brew of food, drinks, and entertainment, serving different tastes and preferences, and making Oxford a delightful spot for both residents and tourists.
