Exciting Events and Food Choices Mark May 4, 2024

May 4, 2024 was an exciting day for food, drinks, and entertainment in Oxford, Mississippi. The beautiful and historic city was alive with a plethora of dining options and events for locals and visitors to enjoy.

Food and Drinks

Restaurants and bars across the city offered a variety of choices. From early morning breakfast spots like Big Bad Breakfast and Ollie’s Do-nuts to late-night haunts like The Library and Rooster’s, there was something for everyone. A significant highlight was the much-loved Ajax Diner serving between 11 am and 9 pm for those looking for a hearty lunch or dinner.

For those wanting to indulge in unique and delicious culinary experiences, Bouré was open until 10:30 pm, while the upscale City Grocery offered lunch, dinner, and a lively bar scene. Mexican cuisine was also well-represented with Uno Mas Tacos y Tequila offering a late-night menu sure to satisfy.

Entertainment Options

May 4 was not only about food and drinks. The city was vibrant with entertainment options from live music performances at The Mad Hatter from KC & THE MOONSHINE BAND followed by DUELING PIANOS, to DJ MEEZY SUPREME spinning at Quack’s Dogs. For those looking for a more casual ambiance, Moe’s offered happy hour between 3–6 pm with half-price appetizers and 2-for-1 wines, wells, and domestics.

Special Events

As part of the May the Fourth celebrations, eateries such as Snackbar offered happy hour initial setup, where patrons could enjoy $2 domestics, $4 drafts, and $6 select wines along with oyster specials. To compete with the force, SoLa served $5 fresh-squeezed Margaritas between 5–7 pm.

Among the events taking place alongside the food and drinks extravaganza, the Oxford Shrine Club Springfest was hosted at the Lafayette County Arena, with an array of rides, games, and food available between 4–10 pm. The Oxford Pride Parade which started at 2 pm added to the celebratory mood of the city. The Pride festivities continued with a drag show fundraiser at The Lyric.

May 4 was indeed a day not to be missed in Oxford. With diverse food and drink options, coupled with exciting entertainment and community events, Oxford proved why it is a city that is cherished for its culture and hospitality. Here’s to looking forward to many such exciting days in the future!
