This year’s academic honors go to Max Hill, the Valedictorian, and Alex Ritchie, the Salutatorian. Hill plans to study at Duke University, while Ritchie is aspiring to be an environmental engineer. The school community is actively fundraising for a senior all-night party to celebrate the graduating class, promising a night filled with fun activities, fostering togetherness and unity.
Oxford, home to a vibrant community and a bustling student life, is buzzing with excitement as Oxford High School prepares for its upcoming graduation ceremony. Mark your calendars for May 23, 2025, when the class of 2025 will walk across the stage at the magnificent Sandy and John Black Pavilion on the stunning University of Mississippi campus.
The spotlight this year shines brightly on the remarkable Max Hill, who has earned the title of Valedictorian. This young achiever, son of Ray and Kathryn Hill, has his sights set on attending Duke University to pursue a major in either economics or public policy. With big dreams of a career in either law, investment banking, or politics, Max is already making his mark.
But it’s not just academics that define Max. He is an engaged member of the orchestra and has made his voice heard as the co-president of the speech and debate team. Outside of school, he works diligently as a file clerk at a local law firm, balancing work with his passion for music and cherished moments spent with friends.
Sharing the academic honors is the determined and talented Alex Ritchie, who proudly holds the title of Salutatorian. The daughter of Jason Ritchie and Kristine Willett, Alex is an aspiring environmental engineer on the lookout for the right college to start her journey. Her leadership skills have shone through in her roles as vice-president of the speech and debate team and captain of the Envirothon team.
With a passion for the environment, Alex has gained invaluable experience through an internship with the USDA National Sedimentation Lab and has contributed to important amphibian field research at the University of Mississippi. She has been a vital part of the Oxford cross country teams since the seventh grade and serves on the State Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council, proving to be a model of community involvement and dedication.
Scheduled for May 15, 2025, the all-night party will kick off at 10:30 p.m. and promises to be a night to remember. Organizers, lead by parents Marcia Hudson and Jackie Ginste, have planned an electrifying lineup of activities, including go-karts, a trampoline park, bowling, and even axe throwing! To top it all off, there will be prizes and gifts for the seniors, ensuring a night filled with joy and camaraderie.
This event is more than just a party; it’s a vital opportunity for the students to come together, unwind, and celebrate their accomplishments after navigating a time filled with adversity. Senior Aiden Watson has expressed the sentiment that this gathering is essential for creating positive memories amidst challenges, allowing students to support one another in a safe and loving environment.
The Class of 2025 is set to take one last leap before heading off to new adventures, and Oxford is ready to cheer them on. With an inspiring Valedictorian, a dedicated Salutatorian, and unforgettable celebrations on the horizon, the future looks bright for these talented young individuals. Here’s to the Class of 2025 – congratulations on all your hard work!
