Major Advancements Planned for Oxford Commons: New Residential and Commercial Spaces to Revitalize Community

Exciting Developments on the Horizon for Oxford Commons

Oxford is bustling with activity as development plans in Oxford Commons are set to take a huge leap forward. From new apartments to commercial spaces, residents can expect an even more vibrant community in the coming months. The founder and CEO of The Blackburn Group, David Blackburn, shared some wonderful insights into the exciting future that Oxford Commons holds.

A Decade of Transformation

Over the past decade, the vision for Oxford Commons has turned into a thriving reality—thanks to the tireless efforts of Blackburn and his team. The area has blossomed into a mixed-use development that includes around 1,100 residential units and about one million square feet of commercial space. According to Blackburn, the development is currently home to roughly 300 single-family homes, 100 townhomes, 125 cottage homes, and 108 completed apartments at The Pearl.

New Additions Coming Soon

Exciting news for residents and visitors alike—Phase 2 of The Pearl apartment complex is already underway. The new phase will include an additional 80 apartments along with 8,000 square feet of commercial retail space on the first floor. That means more shopping and dining options will be available right around the corner!

Among the new businesses coming to Oxford Commons is H Squared, a popular women’s boutique from nearby Cleveland, Mississippi, along with a trendy juice and salad bar to keep things fresh and healthy. Does it get any better than that?

Growing Community, Growing Services

As the community continues to grow with more rooftops and schools sprouting up, Blackburn believes Oxford Commons will soon be a go-to destination for local services. “In the next five years, you’ll really see this become a great spot with a lot of services,” he said enthusiastically. Families, students, and second homeowners have all found their place in this well-balanced community, paving the way for even more businesses to set up shop here.

What’s on the Drawing Board?

Blackburn has more plans up his sleeve. While one of his initial concepts for an amphitheater had to be shelved due to the impact of COVID-19, he is still determined to create a welcoming green space. “We want to create an inviting green space with a restaurant and retail surrounding it,” he explained with excitement.

Although he couldn’t disclose the name of the new restaurant just yet, he promised it’s a regional brand—not a national chain—and it’ll be a brand new option for the folks in Oxford. The designs are in the works, and they expect to break ground in the next six to eight months!

Changes Behind Tractor Supply

In another exciting shift, the area behind the Tractor Supply store, which was originally meant for big-box retail, is being transformed into a mixed-use project comprising retail, office, and residential properties. “We’re literally clearing trees right now,” Blackburn remarked, reflecting on how thrilling it is to witness these plans come to life.

Room for More Growth

There’s still plenty of room for expansion in the community. The southern edge near the fire station will be getting an additional 150 cottage homes, while high-end properties are on the horizon near the local high school. Many of these new homes are being designed to back up to conservation areas, giving residents that much-desired connection to nature.

“We expect to be fully developed out in the next 10 years,” Blackburn shared confidently. With so much happening, the future of Oxford Commons is brighter than ever!

So, whether you’re a long-time resident or just visiting, get ready for an exciting transformation in Oxford Commons. More homes, more businesses, and more community spirit are on their way!
