Southaven played host to a baseball thriller this Saturday. The Oxford Chargers displayed a record-breaking performance, defeating Southaven 10-0. Charging up the afternoon with a 10-run rule, the Oxford team undoubtedly dominated the field. The Chargers, with their splendid season record of 11-6, further solidified their reputation in the region.
Jumping out to an early lead, Oxford seized a 4-0 advantage over Southaven after just the second inning. The Chargers’ offense was unstoppable, putting up a three-spot in the first. In a significant contribution to the team’s early lead, the incredible Brady Stinnett was prominent from the mound. The young player did not allow a single run through the first three innings. Stinnett’s pitching was on point, with possession as electric as lightning, stopping Southaven in their tracks.
Oxford continued showing their dominance by adding two more runs in the fourth, taking a sound 6-0 lead over Southaven. Maintaining their momentum, the Chargers continued piling up the lead. The fifth inning witnessed Oxford adding four more runs, widening the gap to an unassailable 10-0. The burgeoning scoreline clearly demonstrated the Chargers’ supremacy on the diamond field this Saturday.
At the plate, the star of the game without any doubt was Brady Stinnett. Going 3-for-4, Stinnett was a key contributor by executing three RBIs, spelling doom for the opponents. Certainly, not to be overlooked were Jack Gaia and Reid Kent, who collected multiple hits, contributing heavily to the Chargers’ victory.
Stinnett pitched a brilliant run on the mound. Clocking 4.0 complete innings, allowing just one hit, no runs, and impressively striking out seven opponents, Stinnett’s contributions proved pivotal to the Chargers’ win. In the final showdown, the fifth inning, Oxford turned to another impressive talent, Hayes Huggins. Huggins, with his closing run, solidified Oxford’s winning position, proving instrumental in shutting out Southaven completely.
The excel-laden Oxford Chargers are scheduled to return to the diamond field this coming Tuesday. The Chargers would be hosting Southaven at the revered Edwin Moak Field. The first pitch is slated for a sharp 7:00 pm. With this solid win under their belts, The Chargers are sure to follow up with yet another impressive performance.
