Oxford Chargers Baseball Team Marches Towards 7A North Half Championship Series
The Oxford Chargers, a resolute and seasoned baseball team, are gearing up for their forthcoming clash in the 7A North Half Championship series against the Hernando Tigers. The first pitch of the championship is due to take place at 7 p.m. in Hernando on Friday.
Chargers vs. Tigers: A Match to Watch
The Oxford Chargers, with a robust record of 23 wins and 10 losses, find themselves in this enticing North Half series after decisively taking the series from Germantown 2-1 in the first round and outplaying Madison Central with a clean sweep in the second playoff round.
Set to face the Chargers are the Hernando Tigers who boast a remarkable record of 24 wins and merely 6 losses. The Tigers arrived at this stage by sweeping Tupelo in the first round and subsequently overpowering Lewisburg in the second round of the series.
A Veteran Team’s Comeback
Earlier this season, these two teams crossed paths in the first part of April, with the Tigers triumphing. “When we met earlier, Hernando won the first game 8-6 at Oxford by scoring most of their runs in the seventh,” recalled Cade Hoggard, the head coach of Oxford Chargers.
No stranger to the high stakes of the North Half, Oxford is a team forged by experience. “Our guys have been in this spot last season, facing Lewisburg in the North Half,” said Hoggard. He adds, “We are a different team now than when we played last time. This week we have prepared every day to play Oxford High baseball.”
Series Schedule
The series will kick off on Friday at 7 p.m. in Hernando. Oxford will host the second match on Saturday and if required, a third game will take place on Monday. “On Friday we will head to Hernando to face them in an environment in which their fans and students will be ready for a great game.” anticipates Hoggard.
With the confidence of a seasoned campaigner, the Oxford Chargers are primed to put up a tough challenge against the Hernando Tigers in the North Half Championship series. Let the games begin!
