The Pre-Dental Society from the University of Mississippi is stepping up to the plate and joining forces with the city’s Adopt-a-Street program. Making a Difference on Madison Avenue and South 15th Street

Under this fantastic agreement, the Pre-Dental Society will take charge of maintaining two busy streets: Madison Avenue and South 15th Street. That means they’ll be rolling up their sleeves and organizing at least three clean-up events per year, adhering to all safety and reporting protocols outlined by the city. How cool is that?

The president of the society, along with 20 enthusiastic members, is leading this noble effort. The group is made up of a diverse bunch including Tucker Sala, Miller Hodge, Anna Leigh McCallum, and many others who are eager to make a difference. All members have signed waivers as part of their participation, showing their commitment to this cause.

One of the best things about this initiative is that the city of Oxford is stepping in to provide all necessary equipment and safety gear. Mark Levy, the city’s director of special projects, mentioned that the Pre-Dental Society is the seventh group to join the Adopt-a-Street program. Together, they manage about seven miles of city roadways and have successfully collected between 250 to 300 bags of garbage in 2023 alone! That’s quite an achievement!
