Ole Miss Rebels Wide Receiver Tre Harris Earns Spot on Maxwell Award Preseason Watch List Amid Standout Season

Exciting Times in Oxford: Tre Harris Shines for the Rebels

Oxford, Mississippi—Excitement is in the air as the Ole Miss Rebels gear up for the second half of their football season, and one player has been stealing the spotlight more than others: Tre Harris. The talented wide receiver has already made a name for himself, being named a Midseason All-American by several outlets, and he recently earned a spot on the prestigious Maxwell Award Preseason Watch List.

A Growing Legacy

The Maxwell Award dates back to 1937, honoring the best player in college football while celebrating Robert “Tiny” Maxwell’s legacy. This season, Harris finds himself among 17 new players on the watch list, joining his quarterback and fellow standout, Jaxson Dart, who was named to it earlier in the year.

Since transferring to Ole Miss last season, Harris has quickly become Dart’s favorite target. He leads not only the Rebels but also the entire nation in receiving yards with an impressive 987 yards. Oh, and let’s not forget, he also tops the list with an average of 141 yards per game. When it comes to the Southeastern Conference (SEC), Harris is leading the pack in both receptions per game, boasting an average of 8.4, and receiving touchdowns, with a total of 6.

Record-Breaking Performances

This season has been nothing short of phenomenal for Harris. In just seven games, he has surpassed the 100-yard receiving mark in five contests and even broke the 150-yard barrier three times. One of his standout performances came against Georgia Southern, where he set a career-high with 225 yards on 11 catches. Simply put, he has been making waves on the field.

Facing Injuries

However, the road hasn’t been completely smooth for Harris. He has encountered some bumps in the form of injuries during recent games against South Carolina and LSU, having to leave early on both occasions. Fans and teammates alike have felt his absence, as the Rebel offense appears to revolve around him. His influence is unmistakable, making it clear just how vital he is to the success and scoring ability of the team.

A Much-Needed Break

This week, the Rebels are enjoying a bye week, giving Harris the crucial time he needs to rest, recover, and hopefully return to form. It’s a well-deserved break before they host the Oklahoma Sooners in Oxford next week on October 26 at 11 a.m.. Mark your calendars, because this game promises to be a thrilling matchup, broadcasted on either ABC or ESPN.

Looking Ahead

As fans await the upcoming game, there’s a buzz in town about what Tre Harris will bring to the field upon his return. His remarkable achievements and the potential to shine in future games excite everyone, especially with the looming showdown against a formidable opponent like Oklahoma. Will he bounce back from his injuries? Only time will tell. But one thing is for sure—when Harris is out there, he has the power to electrify the crowd and make every moment worth cheering for.

So stay tuned, Rebel fans, as we keep an eye on Harris’s journey and the upcoming games. Let’s hope for a healthy and explosive second half of the season that sees our Rebels soaring through the skies of college football!
