Sponsor Our ArticlesSouthaven, Mississippi was buzzing with excitement this past Saturday as the Ole Miss Rebels men’s basketball team pulled off a stunning victory against the previously undefeated Colorado State Rams at the Landers Center. The final score? A solid 84-69 in favor of the Rebels!
The Rebels came out of the gates firing on all cylinders. They drained their first three shots from beyond the three-point line, followed immediately by a mid-range jumper that had fans on their feet! With some fierce defensive plays, they jumped out to an early 11-5 lead that they never looked back from.
As the first half continued, Ole Miss really showcased their talent. With excellent shooting and tight defense, they managed to stretch their lead to an impressive 15 points halfway through the first period. The Rebels displayed some top-notch defense, holding the Rams to just 10 points in a span of 10 minutes. Talk about a defensive stand!
It wasn’t just about the defense, though. The Rebels were sharing the ball beautifully, finishing the half with a fantastic eight assists while no single player scored in double digits. Nevertheless, they marched into halftime with a commanding score of 45-26.
The stats were in their favor, too! Ole Miss shot an impressive 51 percent from the field and 47 percent from behind the arc. Meanwhile, they held Colorado State to just 49 percent shooting overall and 35 percent from three-point range. Interestingly, the Rebels were quite disciplined, staying out of foul trouble and sending the Rams to the free-throw line only once during the first half!
However, the Rebels were not about to let that happen. They quickly regrouped, extending their lead back to a comfortable 15 points, ultimately sealing the game with a final score of 84-69. What a rollercoaster ride!
The Rebels had an impressive team effort, with five players scoring in double digits. Leading the pack was Juju Murray with 16 points. Alongside this offensive showing, the Rebels’ defensive prowess shone through with a remarkable nine steals throughout the game.
With this victory, the Ole Miss Rebels now boast a perfect record of 4-0 on the season. But they won’t have much time to celebrate; their focus shifts to their next challenge as they prepare to face off against Oral Roberts at the SBJ Pavilion in Oxford this coming Thursday.
It’s an exciting time to be an Ole Miss fan, and this impressive win only adds to the anticipation of what’s to come this season. So gear up for more Rebel basketball, folks—it’s going to be a fantastic ride!
