Oxford, MS – North East Mississippi Electric Power Association, also known as North East Power, announced a strategic collaboration with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) this Wednesday.
The partnership aims to allocate grants to a selection of local non-profit organizations. The funds for these grants are coming directly from the Community Care Fund, a well-regarded initiative by TVA. This fund aims to assist community-based power providers in addressing pressing needs in their region, offering matching funds for initiatives that seek to alleviate local hardships.
Leading figures at North East Power, including Sarah Brooke Bishop and Brittany Hill, were proud to present these grant checks drawn from the Community Cares Fund to the selected organizations. Each non-profit organization selected for the grant initiative will receive a total sum of $5,000.
The non-profits selected to receive the grants are CASA of North Mississippi, The Pantry, Pontotoc County CREATE Affiliate (PACT), and the United Way of Northeast Mississippi.
“I am pleased TVA is once again offering their Community Cares Fund to match donations to groups in our local communities. We support groups that are doing good in the community to assist the members we serve,” commented Keith Hayward, the CEO and General Manager at North East Power.
NorthEast Power’s collaboration with TVA is a testament to the spirit of public power. The partners are determined to address the unprecedented challenges facing their communities.
“In the spirit of public power, we are honored to partner with local power companies to address the unbelievable challenges facing those we serve,” added Jeannette Mills, TVA’s Executive Vice President and Chief External Relations Officer.
The Community Care Fund is a timely and essential initiative, especially at a time when challenges have been heightened due to circumstances like the ongoing global health crisis.
North East Power’s partnership with TVA and the chosen non-profit organizations highlights a crucial focus on community engagement. This partnership is not just a financial investment into these institutions but also a significant step towards the upliftment of the rural communities they serve.
It reflects the dedication of local power companies, like North East Power, to ensure that even in these turbulent times, they continue to contribute to the welfare of the regions they serve.
The Community Care Fund is set to be a massive boost to local organizations working tirelessly to improve the lives of Mississippi residents, cementing the commitment of North East Power and TVA towards their community.
