In the charming city of Oxford, an amazing achievement has lit up the local academic scene! Last week, four bright students from Oxford Middle School shined at the recent MATHCOUNTS Chapter Competition held at the Center for Mathematics and Science Education on Jackson Avenue. Their exceptional skills in mathematics wowed both their peers and the audience alike!
What makes this news even more thrilling is that the fantastic four – Aiden Jiang, Sagan Karthikeyan, Vi Nguyen, and Raymond Sang – scored a perfect score in the team round of the competition. This remarkable feat not only places them at the top of the regional game but also showcases their incredible teamwork and problem-solving skills. The excitement among students and teachers alike was palpable!
A total of twelve talented students from Oxford Middle School participated in the challenging event, fighting fiercely among competitors from various regions including Starkville and Cleveland. With mathematicians of such caliber around, it was a highly competitive atmosphere. But our Oxford students held their ground, making their school proud.
In addition to their stunning group performance, the individual accomplishments of these four students were nothing short of spectacular. Raymond Sang emerged as a star performer by securing first place in the individual rounds. Hot on his heels was Vi Nguyen, who took home the second place award. Not to be outdone, Sagan Karthikeyan took fourth, while Aiden Jiang rounded things off with an impressive fifth place finish.
Thanks to their outstanding performances, these four students are now qualified to compete in the upcoming State MATHCOUNTS Competition, scheduled for March at Madison Middle School. This monumental achievement is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and passion for mathematics. It’s clear that this isn’t just a hobby for them, but something they genuinely love!
