A Major Narcotics Roundup in Lafayette County Concludes with 47 Arrests
Felony Crimes and Drug Violations Lead to Major Law Enforcement Sweep
OXFORD, MISSISSIPPI – The Lafayette County Metro Narcotics Unit, assisted by an array of law enforcement agencies, has concluded a broad-scale operation leading to the arrest of 47 individuals alleged to be involved in drug violations and other felony crimes in Lafayette County.
This significant narcotics crackdown was conducted from last Wednesday through Friday and included assistance from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, Oxford Police Department, University Police Department, Mississippi Attorney General Office, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Mississippi Department of Corrections, Yalobusha County Sheriff’s Department, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Panola County Sheriff’s Department, and Tupelo Police Department.
Materials Seized in the Groundbreaking Operation
Law enforcement officers served 47 arrest warrants during in the course of this operation. The apprehended individuals were accused of contributing to the growing drug-related issues in and around Lafayette County.
Apart from the arrests, the operation also led to the seizure of items believed to be involved with the drug trade: $23,000 in cash, five firearms, 2 ounces of crack cocaine, 613 grams of marijuana, 17 THC cartridges, 14 bottles of Promethazine syrup, and 25 doses of Fentanyl.
Details about the Arrested Individuals
Among the individuals arrested were those charged with the sale of Schedule II controlled substances, which includes substances such as Fentanyl, Cocaine, and Ecstasy. There were also charges for Possession of Schedule I and II controlled substances with intent, which included substances like Psilocybin, THC, Marijuana, Fentanyl, Crack Cocaine, and Methamphetamines.
Additionally, the charges extended to those accused of child abuse, selling stolen firearms, conspiracy to sell Schedule II Controlled Substances, possession of Schedule I substances with intent, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of Schedule II substances, and possession of a firearm while in the process of committing a drug crime.
Still at Large
Despite the 47 arrests, several individuals with outstanding warrants related to drug violations and felony crimes in the county remain at large. The Lafayette County Metro Narcotics Unit is seeking information that may lead to their apprehension.
