Doors of Hope Selected for Local Nonprofit Night

Oxford, MS – Doors of Hope, a community organization dedicated to helping families at risk of homelessness, has been chosen to participate in the Night for Nonprofits hosted by the Lafayette Oxford Foundation for Tomorrow (LOFT). This exciting annual event is set to take place on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center.

Highlighting Community Efforts

The Night for Nonprofits serves as a platform where various local nonprofits come together to showcase their efforts, share stories, and present innovative project proposals. These proposals align with LOFT’s five core areas of support, which include education, health and human services, arts and culture, community improvement, and municipal support.

Mary Margaret Andrews, the director of Doors of Hope, expressed her enthusiasm about the selection: “This platform allows us to showcase our project and its potential to alleviate homelessness in the Oxford-Lafayette area. Being selected highlights the importance of our work and brings us closer to achieving our mission of helping families at risk of homelessness gain self-sufficiency.”

A Night of Celebration and Participation

The event will kick off with an exhibition hour, where attendees can browse different displays and tables that highlight the impactful work being done by local nonprofits. “We designed this event so that community members could participate in the awards,” said LOFT President Dr. Jody Holland. This year, the community will have two opportunities to aid in awarding funds to deserving projects.

One of the highlights of the Night for Nonprofits is the $500 Crowd Favorite Award. All nonprofits taking part in the event will have the chance to compete for this award. Each attendee will receive a voting ticket at the entrance, allowing them to select the nonprofit they believe deserves the title of “Crowd Favorite.” Additional tickets can also be purchased for $10 either online or at the event.

In addition to the Crowd Favorite Award, attendees can support their favorite nonprofit by submitting words of affirmation. The organization that gathers the most affirmations will receive the $500 Good Works Award.

Serving the Community

Doors of Hope focuses on providing essential tools and resources to families who are at risk of losing their homes. Their mission is to help these individuals retain their housing and achieve self-sufficiency.
