In a significant step towards increasing the accessibility of mental health services in Mississippi, Lifeworks Counseling, LLC, a preeminent provider in the field, has announced the inauguration of a new office in Oxford. The Oxford branch, situated at 1415 University Ave, aims to provide a broad spectrum of counseling services to individuals, families, and couples residing in the vicinity.
Utilizing an innovative approach that infuses the best practices of clinical counseling psychology with wholesome Biblical life principles, Lifeworks Counseling offers an integrated faith-based counseling approach. The new Oxford office will be operated by experienced therapists – Keith Baker, PLPC, and Dr. Robert Cross, LPC-S. Baker, with a background in human resources and specialized training in addiction counseling, brings a unique perspective to Lifeworks Counseling. With a history degree and math qualification from Samford University coupled with a Master of Science degree in Addiction Counseling from Texas Tech University, Baker is poised to offer extensive leadership coaching, life transition guidance, and career counseling.
“In my counseling approach, I aim to understand the individual as a whole–their exclusive story, the circumstances they’re facing, as well as their spiritual, physical, emotional, vocational, and relational aspects of life,” said Baker.
Meanwhile, Dr. Robert Cross, a licensed professional counselor, has accrued vast experience dealing with various mental health challenges. A graduate of William Carey College with a degree in psychology and biblical studies, Cross also holds a Doctor of Professional Counseling degree from Mississippi College. Specializing in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Cross’s philosophy centers on assisting his clients in understanding the conditions that have led to their current emotional and mental struggles, to aid them to shine a light on their experiences.
Cross noted, “Healing begins with understanding and continues to foster growth through physical, cognitive, spiritual, and emotional aspects of human experience.”
