Oxford to Witness Return of July 4th Family Parade, Honouring Veterans and Celebrating Independence

July 4th Family Parade to Make a Grand Return in Oxford

The American Legion and Yoknapatawpha Arts Council Collaborate for the Event

The city of Oxford is all set to witness the return of the cherished July 4th Family Parade this year. The American Legion, in collaboration with the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council, has brought this beloved community tradition back to life.

The parade, which pays tribute to local veterans, is centered around children and families. They get to display their American spirit by decorating their bikes, wagons, and scooters in patriotic colors of red, white, and blue.

A Tribute to Veterans and a Celebration of Independence

“It’s a time-honored tradition that brings families together to celebrate our nation’s independence while paying tribute to those who have served our country,” said Wayne Andrews, director of the Arts Council.

The Arts Council strives to offer creative outlets for the community. Through these partnerships with veteran organizations, they not only foster creativity but also boost communal engagement and unity.

American Legion member, Dennis Bullard underlined the importance of this event, stating, “This parade is not just about celebrating our nation’s independence; it’s also about honoring the sacrifices of our local veterans and fostering a sense of pride and togetherness among our residents.”

Participation, Registration, and Special Features

Participation in the parade is open for all, without any entry fee. Families wishing to participate can register online. The event will also feature a special patriotic photo wall where families can capture and share their unforgettable moments.

Signing up not only ensures updates on the event but also provides information on prizes, photo opportunities, and any possible changes in the schedule.

The Essence of Community Celebration

The return of the July 4th Family Parade is an emblem of communal unity and celebration. The American Legion and Yoknapatawpha Arts Council, with their joint efforts, aim at honoring the local veterans, invoking a sense of togetherness, and providing a platform for creativity.

With bikes and scooters adorned in the colors of the flag, the city’s streets will vividly display the patriotic spirit. In the heart of Oxford, this much-anticipated event marks a festive culmination of reverence, joy, and American pride.
