As the clock winds down on Jaxson Dart’s college football career, the quarterback is taking a moment to look back on his incredible journey at Ole Miss. With one final game set for January 2nd in the Gator Bowl against Duke, it’s hard not to appreciate what Dart has accomplished while wearing the Rebels jersey.
Jumping into the world of SEC football isn’t for the faint of heart. Dart, a proud Kaysville, Utah native, found himself at USC before transferring to the deep South and stepping onto the Ole Miss campus. “It’s a blessing for my life, for sure,” Dart said, reflecting on the experience of trading snowy mountains for Southern hospitality. “For a kid who grew up in Utah, to move to the South and play in the SEC, I’ve always watched those games and always wanted to play there one day. It’s just been an incredible honor.”
The impact Dart has made in Oxford is nothing short of remarkable. Since joining the Rebels, he has shattered multiple school records, including passing yardage with an astounding 10,213 yards and total offense with a whopping 11,668 yards. His talent has propelled the team to new heights, achieving the most wins in a single season in program history with 11 victories in 2023.
“Anytime you go somewhere, you always want to leave it off better than it started when you got there,” Dart explained, embodying the essence of a true leader. “I just tried to do all that I could from the moment I stepped on campus. Do the best that I could and bring others up around me. I’m just grateful for the opportunity I had to play at Ole Miss and have the year that we did.”
Even with all these accolades, Dart remains grounded and excited for what’s next. The Gator Bowl against Duke on January 2nd marks a significant moment in his life, and he is determined to go out on a high note. The game, slated for a 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff and broadcast on ESPN, will be his final opportunity to compete in an Ole Miss uniform.
There’s no doubt that Dart’s leadership on and off the field has changed the course of Rebels football. With a chance to lead Ole Miss to its third 10-plus-win season in only four years, fans are rallying behind him, eager to see how he can close this chapter of his football career.
As he prepares for his last game, thoughts of the future weigh on Dart’s mind. He’s been a role model for younger players and a fan favorite in Oxford, leaving a legacy that extends beyond statistics. “To be able to have this season with my best friends and coaches I’ve committed to for these past three years was a very unique experience,” he shared, and it’s clear that every moment has meant something special to him.
Although Dart will soon take off his helmet for the last time in Ole Miss colors, the memories, records, and friendships will last a lifetime. Here’s hoping that Jaxson Dart sets the field ablaze one last time in the Gator Bowl, sending fans and his teammates off with a victory they won’t forget.
As they say in football, once a Rebel, always a Rebel—and it looks like Jaxson Dart will carry that spirit with him wherever he goes next!
