Good news, Oxford residents! The Oxford Planning Commission has just given the thumbs-up for a brand-new grocery store called Sullivan’s Marketplace to be built in the thriving Colonnade Crossing development, which is conveniently located off Highway 30. This 35,000-square-foot store is set to become a fantastic addition to our community, providing essential access to food and services, especially for those living in the northern part of town.
With the population in northern Oxford growing steadily, the need for easy access to groceries has never been more pressing. Sullivan’s Marketplace aims to fill this important gap in our local market. According to city planning staff, it’s all about enhancing convenience for residents and supporting the continued growth of our northern neighborhoods. Everyone will have the chance to pick up their essentials without having to travel long distances.
But that’s not all! Alongside the grocery store, there will also be a cozy 3,000-square-foot retail wine and spirits store right next to it. Plus, for those who love the ease of modern banking, there will be a drive-thru integrated teller machine (iTM) to add even more convenience to your shopping experience. How cool is that?
The Oxford Planning Commission’s approval came after granting a special exception for the size of the store, given that, in this particular zone, grocery stores larger than 25,000 square feet require that extra nod of approval. Additionally, they approved two variances: one for the build-to-line requirement (this basically means where the building can be positioned on the property) and another for the drive-thru iTM.
The property is currently undeveloped and falls under the zoning regulations of the Suburban Corridor District, where such grocery developments are carefully monitored to ensure they fit well with the community’s layout. And rest assured, Sullivan’s Marketplace meets all the necessary parking requirements with a total of 137 spaces available—19 more than the 118 spaces that were required. There will be plenty of room to park while you enjoy your shopping.
This exciting development is being brought to life by MFM Development, and all of us in the community can look forward to seeing this project come to fruition in the coming months. As more details about the store and its offerings are confirmed, residents will be eager to learn more about what will be available and when the grand opening will take place.
Overall, Sullivan’s Marketplace looks to be a game-changer for northern Oxford. As our community continues to expand, having essential services readily available right in our neighborhood makes life that much easier and more enjoyable. Residents can look forward to a convenient place to shop while supporting local businesses in the process.
So, Oxford, get ready! A new grocery adventure is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to see what Sullivan’s Marketplace has in store for us!
