About the Book

Iles’ latest novel, Southern Man, commences fifteen years post the incidents of the acclaimed Natchez Burning trilogy. The protagonist, Penn Cage, finds himself alone as he grapples with loss, mortality, and the haunting secrets from his past.

The story unravels after a brawl at a Mississippi rap festival triggers a blood-spattered mass shooting, pulling Penn out of his self-imposed exile. His exceptional understanding of the American South, its beauty, and racial struggle have been lauded by the likes of Stephen King. Iles is currently a member of the lit-rock group The Rock Bottom Remainders and resides in Natchez with his family.
