Oxford Set for Family-Oriented Fourth of July Celebrations Featuring Children’s Parade and Fireworks Display

Oxford Prepares for Vivid Fourth of July Celebrations

Get ready to display your most spirited red, white, and blue attire, spark up the grill, and plunge into Fourth of July celebrations, Oxford-style. The Fourth of July Children’s Parade is set to bring the local community together again this year, following a collaborative effort between Oxford’s seasoned citizen organizations –American Legion, Veterans of Foreign War, Disabled American Veterans, and the Marine Corps League– along with the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council.

The Parade: Focus on Family and Pride

The parade, which has its root in fostering togetherness among families and children, will commence promptly at 10 a.m. on the Square. Participants are encouraged to dress up their bikes, scooters, and wagons in patriotic colors, as a vibrant demonstration of their American spirit.

Those participating in the parade need to convene at the City Hall parking lot by 9 a.m. American Legion member, Dennis Bullard, spoke regarding the significance of the parade, “This parade isn’t merely about enjoying our nation’s independence day; it also serves to honor the sacrifices made by our local veterans and to cultivate a sense of local pride and unity.”

Easy Registration and Event Features

No charge will be incurred for parade entry, and families can swiftly register online at the designated website. A unique feature of the event includes a patriotic photo wall, allowing families to record and share their vibrant experiences.

Night Time Fireworks Display

As the sun sets on the Fourth of July, the community will again assemble for the annual fireworks show. Fireworks will be launched from Oxford High School grounds, with perfect viewing spots offered from the parking lots of the high school, along Sisk Avenue, Oxford Conference Center, Oxford Commons, and nearby areas. For a garnishing touch of patriotism, tune into WOXD 95.5 at 9 p.m. for accompanying melodies of patriotic music.
