Snackbar Continues Food of My People Dinner Series with Guest Eve Flaschka Offering Unique Dining Experience in Oxford

Food of My People Dinner Series Presented by Snackbar Continues with Guest Eve Flaschka

Oxford Welcomes Another Unique Dining Experience

Oxford– Known for culturally rich and diverse food experiences, the city’s residents will witness yet another engaging culinary event. Snackbar continues its Food of My People dinner series this month, with the talented Snackbar cook, Eve Flaschka taking the center stage.

Eve Flaschka brings a vibrant mix of her Polish-Jewish and Austrian heritage to the dinner table. Raised amidst a celebration of diverse dishes and unique ingredients drawn from each of these cultures, Flaschka aims to deliver a dining experience that resonates with the comforting familiarity of a home-cooked meal.

A Tale Behind Each Dish

Each selection from the dinner’s four-course menu holds a significant memory or sentiment for Flaschka. The meal, scheduled for 6 p.m. on March 28 at Snackbar, will feature traditional Jewish dishes such as challah, Matzah ball soup, braised brisket, and babka.

Started by Snackbar Chef Vishwesh Bhatt, the Food of My People series aims to bring together local talents from diverse cultural backgrounds. The series celebrates the crossover of cuisines and their unique representations in the local food scene.

Although Flaschka is a core part of Snackbar’s cooking team, she will not be wielding the ladle for this particular event. Instead, she will join the guests, sharing poignant anecdotes and the underlying cultural significance of each dish being served.

Remembering Her Roots

Talking about one such dish, the matzah ball soup, Flaschka recollects, “This was always something I asked my mom for help with growing up. I have a clear memory of hosting Passover at my house with all my closest friends, and my mom helping me build the matzoh balls, which I served at dinner”.

The roots of Flaschka’s passion for cooking trace back to her childhood when she would assist her family in preparing meals. She attributes her culinary journey to the encouragement she received from them and their willingness to let her experiment and learn despite the risks involved in letting a 12-year-old handle hot and popping pans and pots.

Tickets Now Available

Tickets for this culturally immersive dining experience are currently available for purchase through Eventbrite. Be sure not to miss this culinary journey led by Eve Flaschka that aims to charm the guests with the rich and diverse flavors of her upbringing.
