Oxford, Mississippi welcomed Monday, April 15, 2024, with a grand array of food, drink, and entertainment options for all tastes and moods. The city’s vibrant eateries and pubs echoed with laughter and chatter as they served mouthwatering meals and refreshing drinks throughout the day.

Lunch and Dinner Spots

Among the tempting lunch options, Ajax Diner at 118 Courthouse Sq. was open from 11 am until 2.30 pm and again for dinner from 4.30–9 pm. Over at Big Bad Breakfast on 719 North Lamar Blvd., breakfast enthusiasts enjoyed their morning meal until 1 pm. The all-American eatery Bouré, at 309 North Lamar Blvd., opened its doors from 11 am until midnight, offering delivery through Fetcht and Take a Break services.

Located in the heart of the city, the City Grocery on 152 Courthouse Square served lunch from 11:30 am–2:30 pm, while dinner was served between 6-10 pm. Helping patrons wind down from the day, the upstairs bar was open from 4 pm–1 am and offered a Happy Hour from 4–6 pm with $1 off on wells & domestic drinks.

For the pizza lovers out there, Funkys Pizza & Daiquiri Bar at 1012 East Jackson Ave. offered a generous service from 2 pm–1 am, featuring $5 Octanes on their menu for the whole day.

The McCormick’s at 120 Alumni Dr. catered to early birds starting from 6:30 am with breakfast until 11 am, followed by lunch until 2 pm. Another hotspot, Moe’s on 311 South Lamar Blvd., kept its doors open from 11 am–10 pm, with the Penny Bar opening at 3 pm.

Rooster’s at 114 Courthouse Square spiced up the night with a DJ from 5 pm-1 am, providing $4 pitchers, $1 Rooster shots, and $4 domestic drinks. For doughnut enthusiasts, Ollie’s Do-nuts was open from 5:30 am-1 pm at 2151 South Lamar Blvd.

Oxford’s Nightlife Options

SnackBar on North Lamar Blvd offered a happy hour from 4–6 pm with $2 domestic drinks, $4 draft beers, $6 select wines, and $8 select classic cocktails. Over at Tallahatchie Gourmet on 1221 Van Buren Ave., the choices of gourmet food were available from 11 am–2:30 pm.

Avid fans of tacos and tequila found their paradise at Uno Mas Tacos y Tequila on E. Jackson Ave. – open from 11 am–10 pm, the popular eatery also offered half-price appetizers, $2 tacos, and $5 house margaritas ($20 pitchers) during Happy Hour from 3–6 pm.

To complete the culinary journey of the city, Volta Taverna on North Lamar Blvd. served customers from 11:30 am–9:30 pm, offering half-off on margaritas and frozen mojitos throughout the day along with a Happy Hour discount of $1 off on all drinks starting from 4 pm until 7 pm.

Oxford catered to its foodies and fun-seekers with aplomb on this Monday in 2024, with a host of restaurants and bars providing a gastronomic journey from breakfast through to the wee hours.
