Oxford, Mississippi – home to innovative minds and fertile ground for ambitious startups, will once again host the Oxford CoBuilders Pitch Competition. This year, six finalists will battle it out for a funds boost of over $10,000 to launch their respective businesses.
The CoBuilders Pitch Competition, originally initiated by Innovate Mississippi in 2022, is a Partnership-Driven Accelerator program. Over the years, the event has evolved, spreading its wings across multiple locations with eight regional pitch competitions conducted in Clarksdale, Starkville, Jackson, Vicksburg, Hattiesburg, Biloxi, Tupelo, and of course, Oxford. The competition at Oxford is proudly sponsored by Oxford-Lafayette County Economic Development Foundation in association with the University of Mississippi.
The finalists of the Oxford competition will present their business pitches between 2 and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12. The site of the competition is Innovation Hub at Insight Park, located on the University of Mississippi campus. Attendance at the event is free and it is open to the public.
The competition flourished with several groundbreaking ideas, narrowing down to finalists encompassing an array of fields. The finalists include Dr. Premalatha Balachandran (PleXignal LLC), Keiona Jackson (JB Culinary Holdings LLC), Terrence Green Jr. (TJ’s Animation Workshop), Julien Bourgeois (Automatic AI, LLC.), Dr. Mac Nichols (BeWell Health), and Worth DuPerier (The Pickleball GameChanger Dink, LLC.).
The finalist entrepreneurs have already received one-on-one business coaching in preparation for their game-defining pitch. Besides, they will now compete for their slice of the over $10,000 seed fund.
The event also provides Innovate Mississippi with a unique opportunity to scout and shortlist promising startup companies, especially those focused on technology and innovation. These startups will potentially participate in the upcoming statewide CoBuilders accelerator cohort in the fall.
