Chris Lane is Back with ‘Big, Big Plans’ for Show at Proud Larry’s

On Friday, April 5, the scintillating charm of country music will once again grace Oxford as sensation Chris Lane returns to the heart of the city for a memorable concert at Proud Larry’s.

For Lane, Oxford, affectionately known as the velvet ditch, has always been a cherished destination for his vibrant brand of high-energy country music. This comes especially owing to the city’s devoted fan base of enthusiastic college students. Taking a trip down memory lane, Lane recalls his first performance in Oxford back in 2019 with great enthusiasm.

“I remember that being one of my favorite shows… The crowd knew every single word and they sang so loud,” reminiscenced Lane.

The upcoming show at Proud Larry’s is testament to Lane’s vision of delivering his unique sound straight to the hearts of college towns. An idea that has been also implemented by country artist Kenny Chesney, who Lane cites as an inspiration for his intimate shows at smaller venues.

Challenges that Fuel Growth

As Lane prepares for his concert, he also acknowledges the attraction of performing at smaller venues while embracing the inherent challenges.

“I think the biggest challenge of the whole thing will probably be the quality of sounds. But you know what, I already knew that going in. Challenge accepted,” said a confident Lane.

A Night Full of Crowd Favorites

Whether they are his chart-topping hits like “Big, Big Plans” and “I Don’t Know About You” or numbers from his newest E.P., “From Where I’m Sippin’,” Lane promises a night brimming with crowd-pleasing performances.

Reflecting on his latest track, “Mistake,” Lane shares how it was written for his wife, Lauren Bushnell. He adds that the song gave him a unique perspective to express love, considering “Big, Big Plans” had been a strong career-focused track for him.

Striking a Perfect Balance

Every artist grapples with unique challenges during their tours. For Lane, it is the emotional prospect of leaving his young family behind. To find a balance, the country artist brings his family along for specific legs of the tour. The joy of being with family helps him deliver charged performances on stage.

While performing with fervor, Lane also misses his favorite pastime, golf. He shares his routine of hitting some shots at golf courses in the mornings prior to shows.

“One of my favorite things in life is to play golf. I’m generally off the bus in the morning to find a great golf course to play on, but some days it’s super challenging,” said Lane.

However, Lane’s expectations for his performances continue to be high. He is particularly excited about “Big, Big Plans,” “I Don’t Know About You,” and “Take Back Home Girl,” given the massive reactions these tracks usually incite from the audience.

“The audience’s energy is everything for the artist… I’m probably speaking for all artists, but specifically for me, I feed off of the crowd,” shared an excited Lane.

With his enduring love for family and music, Chris Lane promises a thrilling evening filled with emotion and excitement.

“For some reason, Oxford’s always stuck out in my mind as a great college town… There are a lot of great country fans, and I’m excited to get back. It’s been a hot minute,” capped off Lane, eager for his concert.
