Newly Opened Plato’s Closet in Oxford Set to Start Selling Gently Used Clothes Soon; Store Now Accepting Item Purchases

Plato’s Closet Just Opened Doors for Buying Gently Used Clothes; Sales Begin Soon

New Store Specializes in Popular Brands and Current Styles

As spring season lurks around the corner, it’s time for residents to gear up for some thorough closet-cleaning. The good news? Plato’s Closet, a store known for dealing in gently-used clothes, is now open for business in Oxford. This expansion into Oxford is one of several plans the store’s owners – Kelli Wilson, Steve May, and David Onstead – have on their list.

Why Oxford? Here’s What The Owner Says

Wilson shared her personal connection with the chosen location. Her children’s tenure at the University of Mississippi made Oxford a meaningful choice for her. She felt that the bustling city with a youthful population had a growing demand for a business like Plato’s Closet.

Buying Phase Begins, Sales to Follow

Currently, Plato’s Closet is only open for buying items. The store will commence sales once they’ve amassed a full stock. The store, not a common consignment store, pays cash directly for the clothes they purchase from sellers. This unique model offers sellers an instant cash reward for their gently-worn, recent style clothing.

The Purchase Process: What Can You Sell?

From dresses worn only once to the top-notch handbags flaunted at your spring party, they’ve got it all covered. The store accepts items from all seasons, as long as it’s in great condition. But it’s not just clothes; they also have their eyes set on gently used shoes and accessories for both men and women. The target customers for this store are usually between their early teens to late 20s.

But how is the offered price decided? The store’s computer system pitches an offer to the seller based on market prices and the brand. This ensures fair pricing. Furthermore, they are meticulous about verifying the authenticity of name brands, refusing acceptance of counterfeit items.

Where is it Located?

Plato’s Closet is located at 2305 W. Jackson Avenue Suite 205. You can visit the store between 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. For interested sellers and future buyers keeping up with their updates, they are active on social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram.

When Can You Start Shopping?

A typical timeline for stocking up enough for sales ranges in between six to eight weeks. Thus, the residents of Oxford can expect the sales to start soon, offering them a fresh batch of gently used, fashionable clothes at affordable prices. So, get ready to take a plunge into your overcrowded closets and make space for new, stylish outfits. A wardrobe refreshment is just around the corner!
