Avent Park Set to Replace Age-Old Swing Sets, Oxford Park Commission Reveals

Avent Park to Welcome New Swings

Oxford Park Commission Announces Replacement Plans

In a groundbreaking move that has won the praises of the Oxford community, the Oxford Park Commission (OPC) has announced its plans to replace the current wooden swing sets present at Avent Park. The much-loved swings have been a part of the park amenities, ensuring hours of joy and laughter for children over its 27-year lifespan.

Time for Change

According to sources, the official confirmation of these plans was made through a social media post by the OPC, and it has undeniably left both parents and children excited. The present wooden swings, installed in the two separate playgrounds within the park, were first built in 1998. However, with the passage of more than a quarter of a century, they are now deemed to be no longer be suitable and are due to be replaced.

Community Effort That Shaped Avent Park

The underlying story of the building of Avent Park reveals a glimmering example of communal participation. With a vigorous fundraising campaign initiated by local community members in 1997, along with the collaborative efforts of dedicated volunteers working hand in hand with city workers, the park was built from scratch in just a span of a day.

Replacement Process and Necessary Contact Information

The OPC has slated the commencement of the swing replacement process shortly and is currently soliciting quotes for the new swings and gliders. Those interested in sharing a quote or seeking information about the quote process can directly reach out to the OPC director, Seth Gains, at seth@oxfordparkcommission.com.

A Bright Future For Avent Park

Since its inauguration, Avent Park has played a key role in molding the recreational and social fabric of Oxford. The planned upgrade to the swing sets not only signifies a mark of change but also represents a promising development that will further enhance the joy of the community’s cherished young ones.

Ongoing Activities at Avent Park

Whilst the community awaits the arrival of the new swing sets, Avent Park continues to bubble with activity. Currently, OPC is hosting summer art camps for children. This art camp initiative aims to cultivate the artistic talents of the young participants by immersing them in an enriching environment filled with creativity and fun.
