Three Individuals Arrested in Connection with Stolen AT&T Utility Wire Thefts
Lafayette County, Mississippi has been grappling with a series of thefts since January concerning AT&T utility wires. It was recently confirmed that three persons of interest were identified and arrested linked to these incidents.
Details of the Arrests
Kevin Smith, 47, a resident of Sardis, and Timothy Nissen, 39, along with Lisa Nissen, 37, both from Batesville, were stopped on South Lamar Boulevard and arrested on charges of grand theft. These individuals were charged after an extensive investigation regarding the multiple reports of stolen AT&T utility wires throughout Lafayette County since January.
These individuals drew police attention because they were identified among several people who were scrapping copper wire in north Mississippi. The connection to the wire theft resulted from a review of those involved in this kind of activity.
Detained and Charged
Following the arrest, the trio was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center. Kevin Smith and Timothy Nissen were both booked on a $25,000 bond, while Lisa Nissen was issued with a lesser bond of $15,000.
