Sardis Lake to Host Annual Youth Fishing Rodeo

On April 27, the peaceful waters of Sardis Lake are set to become a lively hub of youthful activity, as the venue gears up to host its legendary annual Youth Fishing Rodeo. The Cypress Point Recreation Area within Sardis Lake will be the focal point of this year’s event, with onsite registration kicking off bright and early at 7 a.m., followed by the rodeo start at 7:30 a.m. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District will once again join forces with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks, First Security Bank of Batesville, and Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid in Memphis to bring this much-awaited event to life.
Fishing Site & Participant Requirements
A dedicated section of the Lower Lake at Cypress Point Recreation Area will be cordoned off and generously stocked with catfish for the fishing rodeo. In order to get a fishing spot within the designated space, all participants need to register before the selection process commences. Participants have to be within the age group of 1-15 years old and should also be accompanied by an adult. Please note, participants are required to bring their own fishing equipment and bait. If you are planning on taking your catch home, bring along a cooler or a stringer.

Ranger Rodeo – A Sporting Extravaganza
Another noteworthy mention is the upcoming Ranger Rodeo scheduled for April 27-29, set to dazzle sports enthusiasts with exciting rodeo contests. Adding to the occasion, the renowned rodeo champion Will Lummus will be gracing us with his presence and exceptional skills, a rare spectacle that rodeo fans wouldn’t want to miss.
In a bid to make mental health care more accessible within our community, the DA’s office recently added K9 for Crisis Response Intervention, Victim Assistance and Community Engagement. This move will ensure swift and effective crisis response, assisting those in our society who may need urgent help.
