Elizabeth Batte, the library’s Outreach and Strategic Initiatives librarian, emphasized the importance of Young’s legacy. “The life that Andrew Young lived is relevant not only to people in Mississippi but to our entire nation,” she said. “So, it’s special for us to host this exhibit. I hope that having Young visit helps younger people realize that the Civil Rights fight wasn’t that long ago, and these conversations are still relevant.”
