Oxford Bracing for a Series of Busy Weekends Ahead

The city’s officials, led by the Oxford Police Chief, Jeff McCutchen, are ready to handle the anticipated crowds with a comprehensive traffic management plan.

Ole Miss Baseball Series to Kick-off the Festivities

Notably, the Ole Miss Baseball Series against Mississippi State University is set to be the central attraction this weekend, creating a lively and vibrant atmosphere. The series commences at 7 p.m. at Swayze Field, kicking off the festive weekends. The Oxford Police have reassured residents and visitors that while no road closures are expected, different traffic patterns will be in effect to manage the crowds.

A Sold-out Saturday Showdown

Saturday’s game against the in-state rival promises to be a thriller. This high-stakes fixture, which is said to be sold-out according to Ole Miss Athletics, will be nationally televised on ESPN2. Spectators and sports enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the impending showdown.

Unique and Interesting Events Line-up

Enthusiasts can indulge in unique and highly interactive events like the Grove Bowl Games, which kick-off at 3 p.m. before Saturday’s feature game against the Bulldogs. The Grove Bowl Games feature a blend of seven-on-seven action and skill-based competition, including a fun-filled obstacle course, a dunk competition, and even a hot dog-eating contest. Champion competitive eater Joseph Chestnut will be participating in this savory competition.

Mississippi Day Returns

Simultaneously, Mississippi Day will return to the Ole Miss campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Grove on Saturday. This event offers a celebration of the state’s culture, educational achievements, healthcare services, and economic contributions with several hands-on activities, demonstrations, food, and more!

Apart from the main events, visitors and residents can also enjoy other activities like Stuff-a-Pup, a climbing wall, a photo booth, an inflatable slide, a bounce house, various games, and music. The revelers have parking options at Tad Smith Coliseum or the Ford Center for the Performing Arts with courtesy shuttles running. Busy Weekends Continue

The string of busy weekends in Oxford will extend with various events planned in the coming weeks. Country music star Morgan Wallen will entertain audiences with a concert at the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on April 20. The last weekend of April will witness the thrilling Double Decker Arts Festival.
